There’s nothing better than sitting in your garden, soaking up the sun. Now that summer is here; it’s completely possible. Unless you have a rubbish backyard. If you haven’t touched the garden since last summer, then it probably needs a spruce up. It needs to be in tip-top shape for all those garden parties, BBQs, and tanning sessions. You don’t need to have green thumbs to spruce up your outdoor space. Here’s my guide to getting it done!
You’re going to want to start with the basics. This means mowing the lawn, pulling out weeds, and getting rid of any trash. You’d be surprised at how much rubbish can build up over the winter. If you have a large garden, then try roping someone in to help. You can pull out the weeds while they mow. Or vice versa. It’s a good idea to make sure you know the difference between a weed and a plant before you start pulling stuff out the ground.
You should now have a practically blank canvas to work from. This is the fun bit! Head to your local garden centre and stock up on some plants. You can go for flowers and shrubs that are already growing. These can then be planted straight into the soil or kept in pots. If you fancy a challenge, then buy up some seeds. You should check the back of the seed packets to find out when each one needs to be planted. Some are spring, some are summer, and some don’t matter. Put on your gardening gloves and start adding some colour to your new outdoor space.
Add Some Furniture
No garden is complete without furniture. You need somewhere for people to sit when they come round to admire it! Just a table and chairs should be fine, although you might want to look into other options. You can get loungers and benches, to catch the sun on. Alternatively, get yourself a parasol to sit in the shade. You can go for materials such as rattan if you want to create something super stylish. Alternatively, metal furniture gives a nice finish too. It does tend to rust in the rain, however! Decide what kind of furniture you like best and fill your garden with it.
Got a bit more space in your garden? Fill it with some awesome extras. You could build a summerhouse for your guests to party in. Perhaps you want a water feature? I’ve always loved the idea of a pond with a waterfall. Hey, why not go all out and get a swimming pool? Okay, maybe I’m dreaming a bit here. However, there are loads of ways to add awesome extras in your garden. Even if it’s just a couple of colourful cushions. You want to make sure that your backyard reflects your personality. And is also an awesome place to hang out.
You now have everything you need for a perfect summer garden. Who needs to go on holiday when you’ve got the perfect destination right outside?
