And yesterday, Jezebel editor emeritus Megan Carpentier tapped Abiola Abrams, Twanna Hines, Latoya Peterson and I for our thoughts on, well, Steve Harvey and advice we don’t need. When #itaintrape was trending, I created the account @itaintrape to share facts from RAINN (The Rape and Incest National Network) to flood the TT with them so that anyone who clicked on it would see them. I also bought http://www.itaintrape.info (for only $1.07!) and linked it directly to RAINN’s statistics page. Unfortunately, @itaintrape was suspended within minutes of its creation, but http://www.itaintrape.info remains.
Anyhow, there are two things I wanted to point out: Your article was excellent, but Lil Duval is still a dipshit, and there were two things I would like you to address if you ever do an article about the man who started it. First off, he laughed off people telling him he has a daughter since apparently pedophilia and things happening to “grown ass women” are completely different. Okay, so what if his daughter grew up to be a “basic bitch”, would he be laughing then? Secondly, he stated that “rape isn’t funny, but women getting theyselves into fucked up positions is.” This is something I’d absolutely love for you to address, if possible.
1 in 12 rapes take place in a parking lot. Is parking your car so you can go to a shopping center a fucked up position? Countless women are date raped each year with roofies — is turning away from your drink for a split second only to have it drugged a fucked up position? I read a blog post recently by a woman who was raped by her stepfather — is trusting someone who is supposed to be a veritable family member a fucked up position?
Someone needs to put this shit through Duval’s head before his daughter is grown.
I would have loved to comment on Ms. Andrews article but she confuses me… greatly. Anywho.
